Activity and function of the department/Section:

1) Provides a legal Guarantee for 100 days of employment in every financial year to the adult members of any rural household.

2) Creation of durable assets such as ponds, roads, canals in rural areas.

3) Improve the purchasing power of the rural people preliminarily semi -skilled or un-skilled work to people living below poverty line in rural India.

4) This scheme is to generate employment in grass root level of rural society of our country. also help in:-Protecting the Environment Empowering rural women. Reducing rural – Urban Migration.

Sabala Mela

It is held in every year in one of the blocks of the South 24 Parganas district. In this year it is held at Thakurpukur Maheshtala Block. There is a stall of MGNREGA Department in this fair.Which raises awareness about the department among the general public.

 

Gram rozgardiwas

Gram rozgardiwasis observed once a month in every Gram Panchayat of the Block.With the help of this local public know about this department work.

 

Gram Sava

It is held once a year in every Gram Panchayat of the Block.Where local people present their needs to the department.The department prepares the scheme according to the priority of the work.

 

Mangrove Diwas

Mangrove Day is celebrated on July 26 every year in 13 blocks inhabited by mangroves. This is to make people aware of the benefits of mangroves.

 

Citizen information board

This board is placed in front of every work of the department. It gives full details of the work. Through which local people can learn about work.

 

 

Para boithok

Before the village meeting, a meeting is held in each neighborhood, which is called a para boithok.
